Many people in Siddharth Nagar run their own work: a shop, a small workshop, a service business or freelance work. Income is not the same every month, and that changes how insurance should be planned. As an LIC Agent for Siddharth Nagar Goregaon, I try to fit the policy around how you actually earn.
I run my own practice too, as S. Kulkarni, LIC insurance advisor, from Shivanand on S.V. Road near Samrat Talkies. So I understand how uneven monthly income can be.
LIC insurance advisor for self-employed people in Siddharth Nagar
When your income goes up and down, two things matter a lot. First, the premium should be one you can pay even in a slow month. Second, the payment mode should suit your cash flow.
LIC plans usually let you pay yearly, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly, depending on the plan. Some self-employed people prefer paying once a year after their busy season. Others find smaller monthly amounts easier. We will work out which suits you.
What I help with
- Choosing a cover amount that protects your family if you are the main earner
- Picking a premium you can keep paying through slow months
- Savings-oriented plans with a fixed maturity date
- Child education and marriage planning
- Pension planning, since self-employed people do not get a company pension
- Nominee and policy servicing for existing policies
- Help with documents for maturity and claims
I will explain the plan terms honestly, including what happens if a premium is missed. I cannot promise returns or claim approval; LIC decides those under the policy conditions.
Why planning matters more when you work for yourself
A salaried person usually has some group insurance and a provident fund. A shop owner or freelancer often has neither. If the main earner is not there, the business may stop and the family’s income may stop with it.
That is why I usually suggest starting with enough life cover, and then adding savings or pension plans as the business grows. We can review this every couple of years.
Planning areas
Family protection
A term plan such as LIC Jeevan Amar gives high cover for the premium. It is often the first policy I suggest for business owners with young families.
Building savings
Plans like LIC Jeevan Umang or endowment plans can be part of your savings, alongside what you keep in the business. We will look at the full premium commitment first.
Retirement
Since there is no employer pension, it helps to plan your own. Annuity and pension plans can provide income later.
Existing policies
If some of your policies have lapsed because of a tight period, LIC may allow revival within a certain time, subject to conditions. I can check this for you.
Business owners along New Link Road and in Oshiwara have similar needs.
Frequently asked questions
What if I miss a premium because business is slow?
Most LIC plans have a grace period, usually 30 days for yearly, half-yearly and quarterly modes and 15 days for monthly mode. After that, the policy may lapse but can often be revived within the allowed period.
Can I pay the premium once a year?
Yes, yearly mode is available on most plans, and many self-employed people prefer it.
I do not have salary slips. Can I still buy a policy?
Yes. For higher cover amounts, LIC may ask for income proof such as income tax returns. I will tell you what is needed for your case.
